2008 Holiday Mission Focus

September 29th, 2008 by Peggy in Ministry

NewLife Industries has committed to supporting ministries in Nepal with a percentage of sales from this website during October, November, and December 2008. The proceeds will help establish a pastor training program, a Bible School, a sewing training center, a pastor bicycle program, and a children’s home in Nepal.

Background

Our connection with this region of the world goes back several years. In 2002, we became aware of a Christian orphanage in Nepal that had not been completed due to the lack of funds. We issued a challenge to donate to this project with the promise to match the funds raised. As a result of the generosity of vendors, ministry partners, and your purchases, NewLife was able to donate more than anticipated: a total of over $16,000 which completed the building.

During the recent years of uprisings in Nepal, the director of this orphanage and his wife were subjected to harassment and imprisonment for promoting Christianity. Although they have recently moved to another area of Nepal, the persecution did not affect their hearts for ministry. They are still involved with the original orphanage, which continues to bustle and grow. Their ministry is even expanding with a new orphanage for children of HIV parents.

For several years, the director has also had a desire to open a Bible School for pastors, especially those from remote areas. Most of them lacked formal training and were in dire need of instruction.

That dream has recently been realized. Since last year, Bro. Bill Pfoff of Clear Creek Charts and several pastors from ministries in southern Kentucky stepped forward to meet the pressing need for Christian education in Nepal. Bro. Bill is a Bible historian and has been a Christian educator for many years. NewLife has supported his mission work in a variety of ways, and we are very excited about this new ministry partnership in Nepal. It is a connection that NewLife has been blessed to facilitate.

At this time of year, when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we are renewed and challenged by His example of generous giving. We want to thank you, the customers of NewLife, who make our support of ministry and missions possible.
